Mihin Lanka, Sri Lanka’s low cost carrier recently hosted its esteemed travel agents to an interactive and educational business forum. The forum which is held quarterly aims to educate agents on emerging trends in the airline industry and new services, post-sale value additions, new routes and promotions being carried out by Mihin Lanka. The recent forum is one of four held up to date, which have seen the participation of over 143 people from 64 companies. The interactive forums are conducted my Melissa Solomons, Asanka Fernando and Ingrid Guruge of Mihin Lanka, and the event is concluded with cocktails and refreshments. The program is also carried out for visiting travel agents from overseas. Commenting on the sessions, Mihin Lanka CEO Kapila Chandrasena had this to say: “We feel that we have a responsibility to our partners and these sessions and forums are designed to educate them on emerging trends in the industry as well as support them in their business. The forums do not only educate them on Mihin Lanka and our business but also aims at educating and empowering them with tools that will help grow their business.” An agent who attended the session, Travel Connection CEO Maurice Foenander had this to say: “The sessions covered every area which an agent needs to know. It also gave us the confidence and assurance that there are reliable staff to back what they say. All in all it confirms that Mihin not only believes in price it also believes in service.” “This was one of the finest product presentations the team at Citrus Vacations attended in a few years. As we all know, when it comes to a low cost carrier most of our passengers are happy with the rate but are not satisfied with the services or the value additions offered by the airline. However my opinion is that Mihin Lanka is much more than a low cost carrier, when you look at what they have to offer all passengers. These offerings have given us at Citrus Vacations a big business opportunity to look at travel with Mihin Lanka from a far wider scope. We wish Mihin Lanka all the very best for the future,” said Ushan Perera of Citrus Vacations Ltd. Green Tours & Resorts Ltd. Managing Director Emil Liyanage had this to say: “Sessions of this nature pave the way for attending agents to clear grey areas and to look forward to boosting sales with a positive mind-set.”
