Minimum salary of migrant workers increased

The minimum salary of migrant workers is to be increased from 1 February as proposed in Budget 2017, Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorale said.Accordingly, the minimum salary of the trained employees and apprentices who have registered with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has been decided as $ 450 and $ 350 respectively.

From now, the approval of the bureau will only be received for the amended salary payments and those who are pursuing employment are asked to be registered with the SLBFE, the Government Information Department said.
