More tea price records tumble this week

Asia Siyaka Commodities said yesterday that more all-time tea prices tumbled this week on the strength of strong demand. The company said that Dickwella Estate BOP1 sold at Rs. 1150 per kilogram, setting a new record in the Uva Medium category. The tea was purchased by Euro Scan Exports Ltd. Dickwella Estate is part of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC. In the Uva High-Grown category an Invoice of FBOPF1 sold under the Uvakellie mark of Verellapatna Estate realised a record price of Rs. 760 per kilogram and improved its own record. The tea was purchased by Union Commodities Ltd. Uvakellie is part of Madulsima Plantations PLC. Amongst the Low Grown CTC’s Kalubowitiyana did it again by selling two Invoices of PF’s at a record price of Rs. 720 per kilogram. The tea was purchased by Classic Teas and Regency Teas Ltd. Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC were the brokers for these record breaking transactions.
