Therefore, we decided to broad base this year’s competition in order to give many choices to students” he added.

In the past three years a noticeable feature of the competition was that the overall winner was always an outstation University. In 2010 the winners were University of Ruhuna, in 2011 the Winners were University of Peradeniya and in 2012 the winners were from University of Rajarata. This proves that all universities had equal chances to win and a hardworking committed team was always the winner. At the end of the introductory seminar, students will be introduced to a basket of goodies consisting of Hardware, Software & development tools  using  which they can develop innovative products of their likings. Students will be asked to form groups with maximum of 04 members and be invited to submit abstracts within next 04 weeks of projects/prototypes that they intend to develop and a panel of experts will select those which are innovative and have market potential now or in future.

These prototypes can be any kind of a device, or an accessory to existing Mobile Computing or Data Capture device, Software Solution, Software framework, security application for the mobility environment, a game or even a robot. Then the owners of selected abstracts will be invited for a half a day hands-on technical session by Motorola Solutions.

At the end of the session the student groups will be provided with the required resources to prototype their project ideas within next 04 months. The industry, potential users, Universities and the media will be invited on the final day to witness the grand finale of the competition.
