MTI Consulting has appointed Advisor Consult as an Associate in the Republic of Estonia. Advisor Consult OÜ is a consulting company dedicated to strategic management consultation. Its two core functions are creation and execution of corporate strategy and business model innovation process.
Sri Lanka shares modest economic relations with Estonia. In 2012, the total trade turnover between Estonia and Sri Lanka was 5.4 million euros, which put Sri Lanka in 75th place among Estonia’s trade partners. Sri Lanka ranked 73rd among Estonia’s export partners and 60th among import partners in 2012.
Estonia’s main export articles in 2011 were paper and paper products, machinery and equipment and wood and wood products, whereas main import articles are headgear and its components, plant products and rubber and rubber products.
Advisor Consult CEO Oleg Zavjalov said that in his opinion the most prospective sectors for serious international players are transit and logistics, ICT, agriculture and food processing, forestry and wood processing and metal engineering.
Sri Lanka and Estonia are exploring opportunities to strengthen their bilateral relations, especially in trade and tourism and investments. During the first high-level visit to Sri Lanka in February 2013, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet noted that as an EU member country, Estonia’s strategic location can be used as a transport hub for Sri Lankan businesses to enter into European markets.
Estonia’s strategically favourable location and the modern infrastructure and technology in their ports would allow Ski Lankan entrepreneurs to arrange transit more effectively there than in most other European ports. Minister for Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka is an attractive economic partner for Estonia in the transit and logistics sector.
Paet also invited Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities to promote Sri Lanka in Estonia in view of the island’s natural and scenic attractions at their tourism promotion exhibition in the Estonian capital, Tallnin, in the second week of February every year where a number of tourism organisations take part.
