Nalco, an Ecolab company, together with its local agent CIC Holdings, recently conducted the first ever Nalco Power 200 Seminar in Sri Lanka for its customers in the local power and energy industry.

The seminar is one of the many international training programs offered by Nalco’s Centre of Research and Expert (CoRE), and gives the company the opportunity to provide customers with an understanding of Nalco’s current research and development initiatives.

The Power 200 Seminar was attended by plant managers, engineers, technical supervisors and chemists from government and private power plants including the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), LTL Holdings, AES Kelanithissa, Asia Power, Northern Power and Tokyo Cement, and were given the opportunity to not only delve into the topic of water treatment application but also created a forum to discuss and share the knowledge and experience of the Nalco experts.

Commenting on the successful conclusion of the seminar, Nalco Pacific Ltd. Senior Area Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Ranesh Sugathapala said, “It is extremely gratifying to have hosted the first ever CoRE seminar in Sri Lanka for our customers in the power and energy industry. All the major power plants in Sri Lanka have chosen Nalco and CIC Holdings as their business partners for water treatment, and offering this highly recognised international training is another way for us to add value to our customers.”

Participants were introduced to Nalco’s 3D TRASAR technology and the real time monitoring and controlling features which enable customers to reduce their water consumption while improving the asset reliability of reverse osmosis and boiler and cooling systems. Using this state-of-the-art technology allows Nalco’s customers to implement a complete mechanical, chemical and operational approach to all water applications of a power plant.

Commenting on her experience at the Power 200 Seminar, AES Kelanithissa Power Station BOP Engineer Manoja Walpita said, “I found the seminar to be very well organised and executed. It helped us to update our knowledge with the best practices of the power industry and the new technology offered by Nalco to meet the growing demands of the industry such as reliability and reducing the cost of generation. I would like to extend my thanks to Nalco and CIC Holdings for conducting this sort of international training session in Sri Lanka.”

The seminar was conducted by Nalco’s trainers, Technical Consultant for South East Asia, Alan Sugod, Technical Consultant for India Nithin Gopal and Industry Development Manager and Power 200 course coordinator, Vui Chee Tan, who also informed participants on Nalco Envision and myNALCO.com. Nalco Envision is a single source, web based data and system management platform, which enables customers to monitor the system performance against their own Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s). myNALCO.com is the customer access portal which allows customers to access system related data and Nalco information, calculate eROI directly, as well as identify and quantify the sustainable solutions across the operation.

Also providing input on the seminar, LTL Holdings Lankdhanavi Power station representative Anushanthan Mylvahanam said, “The Nalco Power 200 seminar was really a great experience for me. It was very professional and full of information to support the engineers across the power industry. We were also able to interact with other power plants in various ways which allowed us to share our knowledge and experience to enhance our systems performance.”
