The 13th SLIM-NASCO 2013, a premier event in Sri Lanka that recognises sales excellence by rewarding and motivating sales professionals, concluded on a high note at the Hilton Colombo recently.
This year, the event’s theme was ‘Battle of Supremacy’.
BOI Chairman Dr. Lakshman Jayweera was the Chief Guest and SLIM Past President Sarath Fernando was the Guest of Honour. SLIM President Gamika De Silva, Head of Panel of Judges Nalin Karunarathna, Vice President Kalana Rathnayake and NASCO 2013 Project Chairman Prasad Hewagama were among those who graced the occasion whilst dignitaries of numerous companies were also present to witness the true spirit of their sales staff.
Commencing the awards ceremony with a welcome note by Gamika De Silva, he stressed on the need to develop the skills of the sales staff and noted that SLIM-NASCO has created a good platform to showcase their talent.
Whilst congratulating the winners, Nalin Karunarathna, Head of the Judging Panel, emphasised on the importance in competing at the NASCO event.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman of the BOI, said: “The whole marketing approach in any industry today is compelled to seek more innovative ways of achieving their objectives. As a result, even Sri Lanka has faced this challenge by grooming dynamic professionals to take our country to the global marketing arena, not second to any other country in the world. Going forward, we need to continuously develop our next generation, building a more intellectual marketing wealth in the country.”
Addressing the gathering, Project Chairman of NASCO 2013 commended the participants for the enthusiasm and interest shown and for making it a very successful event and thanked all the sponsors and project committee members for the support given.
The key awards of the event were NASCO Outstanding Front Liner Of The Year – awarded to Piumalie Fernando of Sri Lanka Telecom a return air ticket to Bangkok courtesy of SriLankan Airlines, a trophy and a certificate; NASCO Outstanding Sales Executive Of The Year, awarded to Ruchira D. Mendis of Singer (Sri Lanka) with a return air ticket to Bangkok courtesy of Sri Lankan Airlines, a trophy and a certificate; NASCO Best Female Winner Of The Year awarded to Nadee Silva of Citizen Development Bank a gift pack courtesy of Oriflame, a trophy and a certificate; and NASCO Outstanding Territory Manager Of The Year won by Imalka Bandara of Lion Brewery who received a scholarship (NDSM – National Diploma Sale Management) at SLIM (50% off) a trophy and certificate.
