The National Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 1st National Business Excellence Summit 2014 which will take place on 21 and 22 March at the BMICH. The Chamber has been actively promoting business excellence among Sri Lanka corporates with a view to guiding them towards overall business excellence. The role of Excellence Frameworks and Awards are well known particularly in Japan, USA and Europe, where they have been used to strengthen the local corporates to successfully compete in the global market. It is now well established that an organisation with overall excellence, that is; where its leadership is strong and evident, its corporate governance is transparent and professional, its care and development of employees is high, its business capacity is growing, it manages performance well, spends adequately on research and encourages innovation and market development with consistent customer satisfaction, cares for the environment and the people, and produces above average financial results consistently, is therefore more trusted, more sought after, and its products and services are considered more reliable. It is with this in view that the National Chamber initiated its National Business Excellence Awards in 2004. Over the past 10 years the interest in applying for the award has grown by leaps and bounds. Many corporates have stated that the guidance given in the award framework has been very useful for them, and that applying for the award has given them an opportunity to refine their processes even further. Last year the Excellence framework was further refined with the input from the panel of judges and gradually the aim is to reach a level not second to the best known excellence frameworks in the world.  The National Chamber believes that the time has come to showcase the past winners and thus has organised the National Business Excellence Summit. The summit will be on two days with two concurrent streams on the first day on the themes ‘Business Excellence’ and ‘Quality and Productivity Excellence’.
