National Chamber 55th AGM tomorrow

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold its 55th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 18 December 2013 at the Kingsbury Hotel (Balmoral – Main Ballroom). The Business Session will be at 1700 h and the Ceremonial Session at 1800 h. The Ceremonial Session will be followed by fellowship. Although it is the 55th Annual General Meeting, the Chamber founded in 1948, will complete 65 years of service to Sri Lanka’s business community. The Chief Guest for the Ceremonial Session of the AGM will be MP and Minister of Plantation Industries Mahinda Samarasinghe. International Monetary Fund for Sri Lanka & Maldives Resident Representative Dr. Koshy Mathai will be the Guest of Honour. A special feature of this year’s AGM is the key note address on ‘Talent Challenges’ delivered by Postgraduate Institute of Management Senior Lecturer – HRM Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri. Dr. Dharmasiri, will talk on ‘The growing concerns of talent drought and talent development as a vital role to be played by HR professionals and other functional managers jointly’. According to him, talent in essence is a combination of competence (head), commitment (hands) and contribution (heart). As there is an acute gap between required talent and raw talent in Sri Lanka Human Resource Management (HRM) it is now coming to the forefront and has become a key item in every CEO’s agenda. Dr. Dharmasiri is a Senior Faculty Member and a Management Consultant to the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in International Human Resource Management at the Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma, USA. He has wider working experience in the Sri Lankan Private Sector and is engaged in consultancies in more than 13 countries in Asia, Africa and Middle East.
