National Chamber bilateral session with Ambassador of France

A session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and France’ with the participation of Ambassador of France John Paul Manchau, as a Special Guest will be held on Thursday 10 July 2014 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium No: 450 D.R. Wijewardene  Mawatha, Colombo  10. The Ambassador will be assisted by Commercial Counsellor of the Trade Section of the Embassy Jean Louis POLI. They will speak on the current business trend, trade potential, opportunities for export, import, investment/demand items and other services available for Sri Lankans. Participants will get an opportunity to interact with the Ambassador and representatives from the Embassy and get information on the relevant areas. According to the Dept of Commerce Trade relations between France and Sri Lanka has witnessed a strong growth of 60% from 215 M in 2002 to 346 M  in 2012. In the same period, the Sri Lankan exports to France grew by nearly 80%. Despite the economic slowdown in Europe, France remains a main market for Sri Lanka goods and ranks as the 11th export destination in 2012. Exports to France from Sri Lanka are mainly textile and garment products. Other items are rubber based products, rubber tyres, food products, tea, coir fibre, rubber gloves, coconut, etc. Imports from France to Sri Lanka are petroleum oils, telephone, optical, photographic, electronic equipment, chemical and cosmetic products.
