National Chamber of Commerce commends new Government

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in a statement has welcomed the new Government and congratulated President Maithripala Sirisena, Ranil Wickremesinghe and all the others connected in conducting a fair and trouble free general election, recorded as the first in the history of this country.

The chamber statement added: “The National Chamber of Commerce being one of the pioneering chambers in the country with over 65 years of service to the business community, fully applauds the Government’s manifesto, one of the best put forward by a Government, which emphasizes the prime need to establish good governance, rule of justice and order and allowing people to exercise their franchise freely in a peaceful environment.”

The National Chamber extended its appreciation to the Commissioner of Elections, Chief of Police, political leaders and heads of institutions who contributed in many ways in conducting a peaceful election.

“The National Chamber of Commerce assures the Government its fullest cooperation and support towards achieving a strong economy and social development in all areas in the country,” the statement added.
