National Chamber session on oil exploration in Sri Lanka

A seminar on petroleum and natural gas discovered in the Mannar Basin, under the topic ‘Oil Exploration in Sri Lanka’ will be held on Wednesday, 1 October from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium, No. 450, D.R. Wijewardene Mw, Colombo 10.
In this seminar, the National Chamber has invited the Petroleum Resource Development Secretariat (PRDS) to present the current status with regard to the availability of domestic oil and gas in offshore Sri Lanka.
The keynote speaker Saliya Wickramasuriya, Director General of Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat (PRDS) will explain in detail the benefits to the local and export markets, challenges of producing domestic fossil fuels, and the infrastructure required to deal with it.
With this new development, Sri Lanka will have many business opportunities arising out of oil exploration which will not only pertain to petroleum products sector but will span out to all other sectors of the economy – industrial, construction and engineering, aviation, chemical, banking and insurance, etc.
