National Chamber to hold session with Ambassador of Switzerland

A session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Switzerland’ with the Ambassador of Switzerland will be held on Tuesday 22 September from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium No 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mw, Colombo -10.

Ambassador of Switzerland in Sri Lanka Heinz Walker will grace the occasion as Special Guest Speaker. There will be an interactive session where members will get an opportunity to find out information with regard to business with Switzerland and other services available in Switzerland. Nationals of Switzerland are invited to participate at the session.

Economic overview

Switzerland’s economy derives from a highly developed service sector, led by financial services, and a manufacturing industry that specialises in high-technology and production. Imports to Sri Lanka: Electrical machinery and equipment and parts, nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances, natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi precious stones, precious metals etc.

Exports to Switzerland:  Gold, semi precious stones have been the main item of exports to Switzerland from Sri Lanka in 2014. Others are boards, panels, consoles, semi precious stones, apparel etc. Sri Lanka is a GSP beneficiary country of Switzerland GSP Scheme. Therefore, Sri Lanka has an added advantage for exporting its existing products and potential products to Switzerland.
