NEDA Thailand joins economic development process in Sri Lanka

Neighbouring Countries Economic Development cooperation Agency (NEDA) in Thailand has expressed its intention to contribute towards economic development in Sri Lanka, at a meeting the representatives of that agency had with Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa in the Ministry of Economic Development recently (03).
NEDA in Thailand which extends co-operation towards economic development in neighbouring countries, provides financial assistance as well as technical know how to the neighbouring countries for the economic development projects in the various fields including road development, improvements to international airports, development of railways, potable water projects, energy generating projects, agriculture and fisheries.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa explaining the programs implemented by the government to strengthen the economy of people of Sri Lanka from the rural level upwards stated that a number of projects under the Divi Neguma Program are being implemented to uplift the rural economy in Sri Lanka and the living standard of the Sri Lankan people has achieved considerable improvement.
He added that a rapid development has taken place in Sri Lanka and investors from various countries have come forward to develop road network and construct hydro-electricity projects in Sri Lanka.
Thai Ambassador in Sri Lanka Nopporn Adchariyavanich, NEDA Chairman in Thailand Nevin Sinsiri and Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development, Dr. Nihal Jayatilaka were among those present on this occasion.
