Nestlé Lanka PLC was honoured at the National Chamber of Exporters Awards 2011 with two Golds and a Silver award for its excellence in the export of its premium quality coconut milk powder.

Bagging Gold for the coveted ‘Most Outstanding Sri Lankan Exporter Award’ in the Agri Bulk Sector as well as Gold in the Agriculture Bulk Medium Sector and Silver in the Agriculture Value Added Large Sector, Nestlé Lanka credited the incredible success of its Premium Coconut Milk Powder to the combination of premium local coconuts, supported by leading edge Swiss technology and sustained investments in production and manufacturing.

Purchasing over 40 million Sri Lankan coconuts a year, the Nestlé brand identity has propelled Maggi Coconut Milk Powder to become the most preferred brand in the category both locally and worldwide. Speaking on the award, Nestlé Lanka Managing Director Alois Hofbauer said: “In line with our philosophy of ‘Creating Shared Value,’ we strive to build sustainable winning relationships with the people we touch.

Having worked closely with our local coconut farmers over the years, we have proven that sustainability is more than just a concept – today, we are Sri Lanka’s leading exporter of Coconut Milk Powder in the world. This is a great achievement for both Sri Lanka and Nestlé Lanka.” “We are also the only multinational in Sri Lanka today that has been able to market a truly Sri Lankan product to the world and leverage it to become a widely acclaimed global favourite. We are truly very honoured to have been recognised for our efforts with Maggi Coconut Milk Powder and are proud to accept this award together with our valued farmers,” he added.

Nestlé has always focused on delivering the highest quality products with the benefits of great taste, nutrition and affordability to their customers around the world; Maggi Coconut Milk Powder is an ideal example of the strengths of Nestlé R&D, extensive local investment and a unique focus on sustainability coming together to take a world class Sri Lankan product to over 60 countries across the globe.
