JF Packaging Ltd. marked yet another milestone and achievement as the company is recognised and elevated to the ‘Global Supplier’ ranks as well as a major supplier of flexible packaging requirements by Nestlé Lanka PLC.
“It is no small feat for a local company to get the opportunity to supply flexible packaging requirements to Nestlé companies worldwide,” JF Packaging said in a statement.
In recognition of JF Packaging becoming a global supplier to Nestlé, the Executive Vice President of the Supply Chain for Nestlé South Asia, Luca Ficherra visited JF Packaging on 10 June 2014.
Local suppliers like JF Packaging undergo a stringent auditing process for quality, service delivery etc. by multinational companies such as Nestlé Lanka in order to reach world class standards which help these companies to create a distinct competitive advantage to step forward together with confidence and vigor in the global market.
With a strong business relationship spanning over 16 years, JF Packaging is profoundly thankful to Nestlé Lanka for giving the opportunity and the guidance towards continuous improvement in supply capabilities and quality standards on par with world class standards.
During Ficherras’ visit to JF Packaging, he was briefed on the prestigious client list at the board room while sipping a warm cup of tea which was produced by Basilur Tea Limited, yet another outstanding client of JF Packaging.
Basilur Tea is a company buying packaging material requirements from JF Packaging for their best premium quality teas. Basilur tea has been handpicked from the best of tea gardens in Sri Lanka and blended by the best master blenders. These blends have been specially created for tea connoisseurs round the world.
Ficherra was highly taken up with the blend of tea he tasted and all the Nestlé team members were impressed with the quality of Basilur Tea; a world renowned tea brand marketed across the globe.
The Chairman of JF Packaging, Lakhsman De Fonseka mentioned that the company is proud to be the partners with Basilur in bringing packaging solutions to present these wondrous teas to the world. He further expressed the experience of working with multinationals of the calibre of Nestlé and Unilever, who relentlessly work with their business partners to win in the marketplace.
The partnership with Unilever Sri Lanka has been another very effective and a fruitful venture for JF Packaging as the company has been recognised as the ‘A rated for Quality’ supplier in 2010 and ‘Innovations Support in Packaging’ for the year 2013. Fonseka has high regard for the Unilever team and he mentioned that it’s a pleasure to work with such a professional and refined team.
He further went on to say that the Unilever team is extremely courteous, polite, humble and truly charismatic. He also said that Unilever is adding vitality to life of not only the consumers but the suppliers as well by caring about their business partners, nurturing them and being responsible.
The Unilever concept of business partnering is truly unique creating a win-win partnership for both parties whilst safeguarding the supplier interest; it is what you call responsible business partnering. Fonseka further stated that it will take some time for the local companies to adopt the responsible business partnering mindset.
Furthermore, being able to work together in one team, JF packaging company personnel have gained lot more insights and exposure to the style of work, delivery of quality under pressure etc., and yet are able to maintain good working relationships and to build team spirit; cornerstones of lasting corporate culture with healthy competition amongst employees. There are many accolades and trophies that have been won by JF team purely on performance.
It was with fond memories, Fonseka reminisced the formative days of JF Packaging. Through support and encouragement received from Nestlé management, JF Packaging was able to develop the business into today’s magnitude reaching world class standards.
Upon invitation, Ficherra planted a ‘Naa Plant’ (MesuaFerrea) – National Tree of Sri Lanka within the factory premises of JF Packaging Ltd., in Ja Ela, as an honourable commemoration and also making Nestlé and Ficherra a member of the JF Family’s ‘Go – Green’ mission helping to create a ‘Greener World Tomorrow’.
