New appointments to Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Board

Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc announced it had appointed Dr. Emerick Fernando as an executive director and Haresh Somashantha and Nandajith Somaratne as non executive directors.

Dr Emerick Fernando who was appointed CEO of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills in June 2011 was formerly the CEO of  Brandic Intimate Apparels after which he was CEO of the Brandix Innovation Centre before joing Hayleys. He has served as an Executive Director of Haycarb Ltd in 2004/2005 and has wide exposure across multiple industries in Sri Lanka and the United States. He holds a Ph. D from Princeton University, USA and is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India.

Haresh Somashantha is currently a director of Amaya Leisure Plc, the Fortress Resort Plc, Valibel Power Erathna Plc, Chemical Industries pvt Ltd and the Delemege Group. He has served on the boards of HVA Lanka Exports Pvt Ltd and HVA Foods Pvt Ltd as well as being the head of finance and treasury at Royal Ceramics Plc and Chief Financial Officer of Vallibel One Plc. He is a graduate of the University of Kelaniya possessing a Bsc degree in Mathematics and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a finalist of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK. He has worked at Ernst and Young and counts 11 years experience in audit, financial management and reporting and strategic and corporate planning across a range of industries.

Nandajith Somarathne is currently the Director- Manufacturing of Ever Paint & Chemical Industries Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Royal Ceramics Plc. He has worked at Ansell Lanka Pvt Ltd and the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau. He has 18 years experience in the Ceramic Industry. He holds an MBA from the University of Colombo, Post Graduate (Advanced) Diploma in Industrial Engineering from NIBM and a BSc degree in (Physical Science) from the University of Peradeniya.
