New committee appointed to strengthen ties with China

The 12th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka-China Business Council was held on 12 July 2013 at the Taj Samudra, Colombo. The Council is one of the most dynamic bilateral business councils that functions under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce
which focuses on the objectives of trade, investment, services and tourism between Sri Lanka and China.
Navindra Abeyas-ekera, Director – Group Business Development, Delmege Forsyth & Co. was elected as the President of the Council for 2013/2014. He mentioned that the incoming committee would encourage more joint ventures between Sri Lanka and China, exchange information on trade and investment, conduct joint meetings with Chinese business organisations in Sri Lanka and China while also serve as a recognised representative of the business sector interests in Sri Lanka.
K. Kunendran, Dep-uty GM – Marketing Support, Abans and Yasantha Abeykoon, Divisional Manager, David Pieris Motor Co., were appointed as Vice Presidents resp-ectively. Membership of the Council is open to individual persons, partnerships, companies, corporations or other organisations engaged in trade, tourism or services with China or engaged in joint ventures with Chinese organisations or interested in entering into or promoting trade, tourism, services or joint ventures with Chinese organisations.
