Sri Lanka Export Development Board has appointed Dilhan Athapaththu as Director-Regional Development effective from 16 May.
Athapaththu has over 20 years’ experience in a broad spectrum of industry segments related to marketing, sales and business management. Beginning his career at Hayleys PLC in 1995, he later joined Electro-Serv Ltd. as Marketing Manager. He then joined Browns Group PLC as one of their Marketing Managers and later went on to take up the position of Senior Manager at Ceylinco Insurance PLC. Before taking up his current position, Athapaththu served at Bernards Philknit Ceylon Ltd. as Head of Sales and Marketing.
Athapaththu holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing Degree (MBA) from the University of Colombo. He is a Postgraduate Diploma holder of Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He obtained the Degree of LL.B. (Hons) from the Open University of Sri Lanka in 2006 and the qualification of Attorney-at-Law in 2005 with first class Honours in the final examination conducted by the Sri Lanka Law College. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies and Public Policy from the Open University of Sri Lanka and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Peradeniya.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK) as well as the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM). He is also a member of the BAR Association of Sri Lanka.
Athapaththu is an old boy of Ananda College Colombo who won national and college colours for cadetting.
