New Directors appointed to Dunamis Capital, Kelsey Developments

Dunamis Capital PLC has announced the concurrent appointments of Eardley Perera and Chandana L. de Silva as Independent Non-Executive Directors of the company and its property development subsidiary Kelsey Developments PLC.

One of Sri Lanka’s best known marketing personalities, Chartered Marketer Perera is a specialist in the areas of strategic marketing and business strategy and has served on the Board of the Dunamis Group company First Capital Holdings PLC since September 2011. He is also on the Boards of a number of leading corporate institutions, including Janashakthi Insurance PLC, ODEL PLC, Keells Food Products PLC and STING Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. He is the Chairman of M&E (Private) Limited.

Chartered Accountant and management consultant de Silva ended an eight-year stint at the MAS Group in December 2011, of which the final three and a half years was as CEO of MAS Investments. Awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Management by the London University in 1976, his illustrious corporate career encompasses key positions such as Head of Financial Planning at British Telecom, Chief Financial Officer – Europe at Level 3 Communications Inc., Head of Supply Chain Management and Director Strategic Planning at the MAS Group.

Dunamis Capital (formerly Kshatriya Holdings) Managing Director Manjula Mathews said these latest appointments reflected the Group’s aspirations to maximise opportunities for growth in the spheres of business it is involved in, subsequent to a process of rationalisation and strategic repositioning that took place in previous years. “The depth of knowledge and experience that Perera and de Silva bring to Dunamis, and their impeccable reputations, will significantly enhance the Group’s potential,” she said.

The Dunamis Group’s current holdings encompass interests in financial services (First Capital), property development (Kelsey Developments) and export manufacturing.  

Established in 1983 as a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings, Kelsey Developments PLC has successfully operated under the Kelsey Homes brand, a name synonymous with reliable home building. Kelsey Homes concentrates on housing developments and building houses for clients on their own land, while Kelsey Property Developers focuses on seeking out virgin land in potential residential suburbs for infrastructure development, blocking out and sale.

Consequent to the new appointments, the Board of Directors of Dunamis Capital PLC comprises of Manjula Mathews (Managing Director), Nihara Rodrigo, Dinesh Schaffter, Eardley Perera and Chandana de Silva. The full Board of Kelsey Developments PLC now comprises of Dinesh Schaffter (Managing Director), Nihara Rodrigo, Manjula Mathews, Eardley Perera, and Chandana de Silva.
