New MD at Convenience Foods

Thilanka de Zoysa, CEO of Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC (CFL), has been appointed its Managing Director with effect from 1 April. The company is a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Limited.

He possesses 20 years of experience in General Management. He started his career in the plantation sector, and has been with Soy Foods Lanka Ltd., known as Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC since 1996.

He was appointed to the Board of CFL on 30 October 2002 and was promoted to the post of Chief Executive Officer in August 2010.

During his stewardship CFL which is the pioneer in ‘textured vegetable protein’ commonly known as ‘soya meat’ manufacture in Sri Lanka became market leader under the brand name Lanka Soy.

The Company has shown a remarkable progress during the last eight years where the turnover has grown from 250 M per annum to over 800 M per annum presently. The company has also diversified from manufacturing soy base products to other food products and presently manufactures Jelly and soup mixers. In the future, company will have major expansions to produce other food products as well.
