The Government of New Zealand says it expects to broaden existing investment in Sri Lanka.
New Zealand Transport Minister David Benette, who is currently visiting Sri Lanka, announced this when he met Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake at the Ministry of Finance last morning. Minister Benette said that the decision was made after taking the current favourable economy of the island into consideration.
He said that the political and economic environment was at a conducive level therefore his country expected to further invest in Sri Lanka.
He pointed out that New Zealand was ready to assist in economic development activities, provide technical support in infrastructure development and assist in developing the agricultural sector of the country.
Expressing her views during the meeting, the new High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka Joanne Kempers said that she appreciated the opportunity to serve in Sri Lanka. Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that the New Zealand Government had contributed immensely to strengthening the implementation of good governance.
