Subash Hotel, Jaffna, comprising 36 rooms was the main hotel in Jaffna, where many visitors to Jaffna stayed, including VIPs. It was requisitioned by the armed forces during the war and was handed back to the family owners subsequently.

The proprietor of Subash Hotel was late A. Sangaran, who also had a flourishing ice-cream business, Subash Café and Ice-cream in Jaffna town, which was a virtual monopoly in the 1970s.

On 14 December 2012, late A. Sangaran’s family re-opened the re-furbished Subash Hotel, initially operating only 10 of the 36 rooms, under the able leadership of one of the sons, S. Hariharan, Managing Director, Subash Tourist Hotel (Pvt.) Ltd. As a gesture of goodwill and remembrance, Nihal Sri Ameresekere, Management Consultant, who was the consultant to late A. Sangaran and Subash Hotel since the early 1970s was invited to light the traditional lamp at the re-opening ceremony at Subash Hotel on 14 December 2012.
