Chairman of Noritake Co. Ltd Japan Hitoshi Tanemura recently visited Sri Lanka in the company of Director/Managing Executive Officer of Noritake Co. Ltd Japan Kozo Kato.
During this brief visit to Colombo, Tanemura met the company’s Colombo-based officials, including Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Noritake Lanka Porcelain Ltd (NLPL) Yoshinari Shimaya and top management officials and reviewed the progress and performance made by Noritake in Sri Lanka.
Tanemura also took time off a busy schedule to visit Noritake’s flag ship store in South Asia at Dharmapala Mawatha in Colombo 07. Conveniently located at the crossroads of Dharmapala Mw and Sir James Peries Mw (Pitthala Junction), the store is spread over three floors and enjoys prestigious visibility from its vantage location. With this recently opened store, Colombo has joined Noritake’s up market and international chain of similar stores in Tokyo, Nagoya and Shanghai.
Tanemura was part of the hi-level business delegation which accompanied Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on his recent historic state visit to Sri Lanka. He also participated at the Sri Lanka-Japan Business Forum at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.
Tanemura’s visit is the second VIP visit from Noritake Japan in the past two months. It follows almost hot on the heels of the recent visit to Colombo by President of the Noritake Group T. Ogura during which time he also met with President Mahinda Rajapakse.
Nearly 80% of Noritake’s local production is exported to key markets in over a hundred countries including USA, UK, Japan, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Korea. The balance 20% is marketed locally through its outlets at the flagship store in Colombo 07, Kirulapona, Wattala, Matale, Pannala and the Bandaranaike Air Port.
