Norway to buy more Sri Lankan fish

leadNorwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Thorbjorn Gaustadsaether stated that Norwegian Government has taken actions to give more investment opportunities to Sri Lanka in their fish market with the lifting of fish ban imposed to Sri Lankan fish and fishery products by the European Union. He further shows that now Sri Lanka has gained opportunity to invest in fish exports industry in Norway. 

Gaustadsaether stated this at the meeting held with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday at the Ministry of Finance.

This meeting with the Norwegian Ambassador and the Finance Minister was held as a result of special discussion which took place between the Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and the Norwegian Finance Minister Siv Jensen in Washington, USA while participating for Spring meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group. Karunanayake stated that now Sri Lanka was receiving outcomes of positive aspects like financial discipline and transparency. He added that the lifting of fish export ban imposed to Sri Lanka by the European Union would offer great potential for Sri Lanka’s economy. 

The Norwegian Ambassador showed that they would take steps to enhance trade and commercial affairs between Sri Lanka and Norway and further said that foreign investments in Sri Lanka would be further strengthened with the new political developments of the country.
