Steps have been taken to extend the facility of obtaining vehicle revenue licence online to the Eastern Province.
The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) says that action was taken to extend the facility to the Eastern Province based on its successful introduction in the Western, Southern and North Western Provinces.
The facility could be availed of, through the website www.srilanka.lk.
It is also possible to make the payment for this vehicle revenue licence using the credit card and the mobile phone.
Elaborating on the facility, ICTA MD and CEO Muhunthan Canagey states that now the revenue licence for vehicles registered in the Eastern Province could be obtained from the Eastern Province Motor Vehicle Commissioner’s Office. The ICTA MD/CEO said further that soon it would be possible for the revenue licence of vehicles registered in the Eastern Province to be obtained from any Divisional Secretariat in the Eastern Province.
Similarly it is hoped that this facility would be extended to the rest of the country as well.
ICTA also says that about 2.5 million vehicle revenue licences have been issued online in the Western and Southern Provinces by now.
The ceremony of introducing this facility to the Eastern Province was held in Trincomalee recently under the patronage of Eastern Province Government Agent Ostin Fernando. Addressing the audience at the inauguration, member of ICTA Board of Directors, Dr. Ajith Madurapperuma said that by now ICT had become an important factor in the country’s socio-economic development. Dr. Madurapperuma pointed out further that ICTA was always committed to take action to make the benefits of ICT accrue to the people.
