Orion City, best known for its provision of premium commercial and office infrastructure, added yet another achievement to its list of accolades recently by achieving a LEED Silver certification with a total of 53 points in the LEED BD+C: New Construction (v2009) category. Known for providing access to leading edge technology combined with comprehensive facilities on par with the highest international standards, Orion City revolutionised the scope of built to specification, commercial and office infrastructure.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the global monitoring authority on green building leadership. Focusing on revolutionising the perceptions of how buildings and communities are designed, constructed and maintained across the globe, LEED certification is a highly coveted, premier mark of achievement in green building. Recognising best in class building strategies and practices LEED certification requires building projects to satisfy prerequisites which are awarded points for different levels of certification.

Speaking on the Silver certification, Orion Development CEO Jeevan Gnanam explained, “Orion City has long established itself as a path-breaker in future centric planning and thinking; which is why we are so pleased by the LEED Silver certification we have been awarded. Not only does it address our aims to utilise sustainable and renewable resources and promote the use of clean energy, it also recognises our focus on establishing healthy work atmospheres for our occupants. We will not, however, be resting on our laurels with this certification – the construction has already begun on Orion Towers, our latest project – for which we will be aiming to achieve Gold LEED certification.”

Already housing clients such as Virtusa, Sri Lankan Airlines, HNB, NTB, HSBC and Pearsons, Orion City is fast achieving its objective of being the most sought-after location for an IT/ITES company setting up in the South Asian region. Offering far more than basic work place infrastructure, Orion City also handles all voice and data cabling, security and data centre services as well as campus wide maintenance of common areas and all logistic necessities.

The phase one of the Orion Towers project, pegged for completion by 2017, is set to raise the bar even higher for the sector. Offering 22 floors and over 350,000 feet of rentable area, the Towers boast an impressive array of complementary and ancillary service centres that is designed to provide a comprehensive work atmosphere for all tenants.
