P M Abeysekera re-elected as President at 23rd AGM of the SLBBC

The 23rd Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka – Benelux Business Council was held on 11 August 2016 at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The Council, which focuses on the objectives of ‘promoting investment, trade and joint venture between Sri Lanka and Benelux’, is one of the twenty One bilateral business councils that functions under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Limako Suiker Bv Trade Representative P.M Abeysekera was elected President of the Council for the year 2016-2017. He mentioned that the Council is heading towards its 25th year of service in 2017 and stressed the need to pro-actively support trade, investment and tourism within the Benelux Business Companies in Sri Lanka and said SLBBC will serve as a recognised representative of the business sector interests in Sri Lanka.

Mercantile Produce Brokers Ltd Director Deepal Jayamanna and Dr E M B Daniel, Director of Promising Products Company were appointed as Vice Presidents respectively. Jayantha Panabokke, Managing Director, Mahaweli Reach Hotels Ltd will be the Immediate Past President.

The Executive Committee elected comprised Nigel Austin of Nisol Diamonds Ltd, Sega Nagendra of Travelserve Ltd., Mahen Kariyawasan of Andrew The Travel Company Ltd, Ranee Ratnayake of A And A International (Opticians), Sajith Wijenayake of Aitken Spence Travels Ltd and Derrik Williams of Walkers Tours Ltd (John Keells Holdings).
