Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Deputy Minister Dunesh Gankanda presents the letter of appointment Sanjaya Pilapitiya as the Director Board Member of the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Deputy Minister Dunesh Gankanda has appointed Paddy Weerasekera as the Director Board Member of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), and Sanjaya Pilapitiya as the Director Board Member of the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLR&DC). Weerasekera, a veteran marketing and communications specialist counts over 20 years of experience in both local and multi-national companies. Currently he is attached to Expolanka Holdings PLC as a member of the Corporate Management team overlooking the groups marketing, corporate communications and sustainability. He was also serving in the insurance industry as the Head of Marketing at Janashakthi Insurance PLC and led the Brand Management, Customer Relationship Management, Research and Telemarketing teams. Prior to this he was General Manager of the multinational communications agency Bates Asia/141 (part of the global communications giant WPP). He is a member of the Charted Institute of Marketing (CIM UK) and holds a MBA from the University of Wales (UK). He was a product of Royal College, Colombo and studied further at Stafford International. He has served the marketing and communications industry over the years as a Board Director/Vice President 4A’s (Accredited Advertising Agencies Association) from 2006-2009, Member of panel of judges for Effies Awards 2012/2013, Member of the Chillies Advertising Awards steering committee 2007/2008, Member of the panel of judges for SLIM advertising awards (2004) and a visiting lecturer at the Academy of Design from 2006-2008. He was bestowed with the Brand Leadership Award at CMO Asia in 2012. Pilapitiya is an old boy of Trinity College and an Attorney-at-Law and a former member of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council. He is a planter and social entrepreneur. He is the son of former Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.
