Pearson Quality Quest 2014 to inspire quality through DevOps

3-day event starting on 24 November, ending with open day on 26 November at BMICH
Pearson Lanka – a subsidiary of Pearson PLC, the world’s leading learning company – announced the hosting of the inaugural ‘Quality Quest 2014’ event, with the intention of sharing their expertise on improving software quality through DevOps.
Held under the theme ‘Let’s inspire quality through DevOps,’ Pearson Quality Quest 2014 is a three-day event that will be held from 24 to 26 November. The first two days of the event – focusing on internal staff – will be held at the Orion City Dematagoda while the final day will be an open day event held at the BMICH Committee Rooms D and E.
Software engineering professionals and IT university students from reputed organisations and institutes are to participate in the open day event. The Keynote Speaker on this day will be Sanjeewa Alwis – Manager – DevOps/Application Engineering, Cloud Services Technology Operations of Pearson Lanka whilst the Guest Speaker will be Rohan Pallewatte – Executive Chairman of Lanka Harness Co. Ltd.
The event will also include a panel discussion in which reputed individuals in the industry will take part. The panel will consist of Sanjeewa Alwis, Pearson Lanka, Rohan Pallewatte – Executive Chairman of Lanka Harness Co. Ltd., Thushara Wijewardena, Chief Project Officer, Exilesoft, Chinthaka Indikadahena, independent QA consultant and Nalina Wijesundara, General Manager/Director, Pearson Lanka.
Lightening round is another remarkable agenda item in the event where individuals from different organisations will get the opportunity to present their ideas on different aspects of DevOps and software quality.
In addition to this, there will be various stalls demonstrating how each discipline – such as Quality Engineering, Development, Database Engineering, Application Support Engineering – practices DevOps to improve quality. This event will be followed up by the ‘Colombo Selenium Meetup’– the Open Source forum consisting of individuals from various software firms.
Speaking about DevOps and the significance of this event, Nalina Wijesundara, General Manager and Director, Pearson Lanka stated: “Quality Quest 2014 will create a platform for industry professionals to exchange their knowledge and experience on delivering high quality software services through DevOps. DevOps brings development and operations teams together and encourages close collaboration throughout development and ongoing service management. We are very pleased with the improvements in quality we have seen so far and it is an ongoing effort at Pearson.”
He added that this event will provide an opportunity for university students also to have an exposure to modern software engineering practices.
