People’s Bank kicks off phase two of ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Program’

Reflecting its commitment to uplift the country’s small and medium sector entrepreneurial community, the pioneering state bank, People’s Bank recently initiated the second phase of its highly successful ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Program’ in the Puttalam and Kalutara Districts. The ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Program’ is a workshop dedicated to enlightening and supporting the SME community in the country and is organised by the SME Development Unit of the People’s Bank. The two programs were held amidst the enthusiastic participation of members of the SME community at the Far Inn Beach Hotel, Puttalam and Garden Beach Hotel, Kalutara respectively.
Those present at the occasion included, People’s Bank Deputy General Manager (Cooperative and Development) T.A. Ariyapala, Assistant General Manager (SME) Wickrama Narayana, Dr. B. Nishantha and Dr. Saman Dassanayake of the University of Colombo and the Commissioner, Department of Inland Revenue Bandula Haputanthrige. A large number of customers and members of the SME community also participated at these workshops.
‘Entrepreneurial Glory’ is a program dedicated to educating the small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the country where they receive guidance on many important subject matter including entrepreneurship, business planning, sales management, financial accounting and management and tax related issues. The primary aim of such a program is to enhance the ‘financial literacy’ of the members of this important industry segment so they can better manage their business ventures.
The bank intends reaching out to the largest possible cross section of small and medium scale entrepreneurs by taking ‘Entrepreneurial Glory’ around the country where experts in the sphere of small and medium scale business management, both from within the bank and from outside will join hands to educate the Sri Lankan SME sector.
