Peradeniya University to host agriculture economics workshop

The Board of Study in Agricultural Economics, the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA) of theUniversity of Peradeniya and the Sri Lanka Agricultural Economics Association (SAEA) has organised a workshop on international trade regulations, rights and markets for food.
The workshop will be conducted by resource persons from the World Trade Organization and will be held at the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture of the University of Peradeniya from 15 to 17 September.
The objective is to build awareness of existing opportunities within Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) agreements of the World Trade Organisation and provide exposure to success stories from the developing world.
Officials from government agencies dealing with the international trade of agricultural products as well as university students are the expected to attend the event.
