Pradeep named ‘Rotarian of the Year’

The recently-concluded Rotary Club of Colombo West Installation ceremony saw Rotarian and Past President Pradeep Amirthanayagam being named ‘Rotarian of the Year 2011-12’.

The veteran Rotarian received the prestigious award from well-known industrialist, apparel magnate and outgoing President of Rotary Club of Colombo West Duolat Kundanmal, at a gala banquet and function held at the Hilton Colombo.

Pradeep, who was voted ‘Best Club Secretary’ 1993-94 and ‘Best Rotary Club President’ during his tenure as President of District 3220 for the year 2011-12, counts over 20 years of service to the Rotary movement is also the Managing Director and CEO of Homes Pollard & Stott, one of the leading advertising agencies in Sri Lanka.

This is yet another in a series of awards and accolades awarded Amirthanayagam, who follows a family rich tradition of service to the community. Rotary Club of Colombo West has consistently produced many Rotarians of note that have exemplified the meaning of service and contribution to society through ground breaking programmes that address social and health issues.

Looking ahead to the future, Pradeep’s aspirations and long-term goals include an active leadership role at district level aimed at furthering the core ideals of Rotary and to engage more closely with the many social and community upliftment programmes that continue to have a positive impact on Sri Lanka.
