PRISL organises international seminar on trends and advancements in plastics and rubber

The Plastics & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) together with Enterprising Fairs Ltd. (EFIPL) organised an International Seminar on Trends and Advancements in the field of Plastics and Rubber to further gather in-depth knowledge on growing industry trends.
Over 200 participants from the rubber and plastics industries were able to gather insights on industry best practices through practical case studies and knowledge sharing.
The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma, Managing Director, Dipped Products and Guest of Honour Aslam Omar, Managing Director, Phoenix Industries after Rangith Samarasinghe, President of PRISL, welcomed the gathering.
PRISL Organising Committee Chairman Kirthi Wanasinghe giving an overview and objectives of the seminar said: “PRISL joined hands with EFIPL three years back and we find the organising of such a seminar is quite matching to the objectives of PRISL and timely for the industry.”
Significant topics such as product innovations, plasticulture, multi-layer extrusion injection molding relevant to the plastics industry were discussed. For the rubber seminar, topics such as product innovations, cause of failure of rubber products with remedial measures, energy conservation methods, rubber recycling and reclamation were extensively covered during the forum.
Dr. Ranasoma said: “I must congratulate PRISL for organising the international seminar as it is an apt and important event. I believe expertise in trends and sharing the value of accumulated knowledge shapes the industry. The role we as an industry have to shape and capture the global market is enormous.”
General topics on Environmental Issues by Prof. Ajith de Alwis, Project Director, Coordinating Secretariat for Science Technology and Innovation, Sri Lanka, Environmental Regulations by N.S. Gamage, Director, Central Environmental Authority, Western Province CEA, Sri Lanka and Applications of Nano Technology by Prof. Veranja Karunaratne, Associate Director Science and Strategic Relations, SLINTEC were also tabled at the seminar.
