In a world of uncertainty and change, current achievements are no guarantee for future survival. Organisations need to rejuvenate and renew their strategies and business models: to develop and tap new ideas, develop fresh perceptions; undertake quick action and continual upgrading to achieve flexible adaptation. This session examines why innovation is critical to success in a world of rapidly increasing globalisation and unrelenting technological advancements. Innovative decision-making involves developing and driving triple loop thinking capabilities: thinking ahead, thinking again and thinking across. This paper will focus on practical and strategic insights on how organisations could maximise value addition using these methods in light of changes in the external environment.

‘Transformation: the compulsory choice’ is the topical theme of the upcoming Technical Symposium, and will focus on timely business areas such as the impact of globalisation and technology on management accounting, ethics and sustainability, innovative decision-making, business and supply chain agility, finance transformation and leading a knowledge workforce. It will feature an eminent array of local and foreign theoreticians and practitioners who have excelled in their chosen fields, and will intellectually connect business leaders and executives who continuously strive to revive their technical knowledge and business acumen.
