Promoting Buddhist pilgrim tours from China

SLCB CEO Vipula Wanigasekera addressing the gathering with SLTPB Director Marketing Madubani Perera Sri Lanka Tourism met with a delegation from Buddhist Association of China and Fujian Province led by Ven. Shi Ben Xing Thero who was one time a student of Kelaniya University in the ’80s. A briefing covering Buddhist history, Buddhist culture, Dhamma and current status of spirituality was given by Convention Bureau CEO Vipula Wanigasekera while Tourism Promotion Bureau Director Marketing Madubani Perera explained the plans for tourism development from China. “This is very encouraging because this is a very high and upscale segment to promote at a time Sri Lanka is promoting Chinese tourism aggressively. Further we will be able to attract a few Buddhist conferences from China in the coming year,” said Wanigasekera.
