A series of public interest seminars on a continuing basis are to be held in 2014, at the ‘Winchester Hall’, The Kingsbury, organised by public interest activists, jointly with experts, eminent professionals, academics and other such personalities covering the following issues and topics of public interest:
Repetitive debacles of finance companies
Draconian debt recovery law and Supreme Court determination
Parate execution by banks and Supreme Court determination
Re-structuring of companies as per the Companies Act
Taxation and levies + tax holidays and concessions
Fiscal management and parliamentary control
Hedging and derivative deals: Financial crisis to states Stock market: Transparency, accountability and responsibility
Gambling and gaming: Declaration of global responsible gaming
Fraud and corruption: UN Convention against Corruption
Such Seminars are to be held in order to create public awareness and also with a view to make known to civil society the vital necessity to effect improvement of governance with the strict enforcement of the rule of law, even changing amendments to current statutes. Those taking part in such seminars would have a golden opportunity to engage in discussions and to raise their own questions to speakers on any of the topics, for which they require clarification.
