Rally to promote recycling of plastics, industry exhibition on 3 Aug.

COMPLAST, a complete plastics exhibition in its fourth edition, together with its organisers Enterprising Fairs India, the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) and the Lions Club District 306B2 will come together to organise a unique cycling rally creating awareness with the aim of instilling the responsible use and disposal of plastics.

The awareness cycle rally will start from Independence Square Colombo 7 on 3 August at 7.00 a.m. and will reach the BMICH after a city round. The campaign will take forth the message ‘Refuse-Reduce-Reuse-Recycle’ and keep Sri Lanka clean through the awareness riding campaign. The rally will be flagged off by Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka.

Speaking about the event, PRISL President Koenraad Pringiers said: “The biggest issue is that the community is not aware of the correct way of disposing used plastics to enable recycling which is pivotal in this age. Proper awareness and the correct methodology in the use of plastic and its products will make a significant impact on the entire world. We are happy to organise this awareness campaign together with the Enterprising Fairs Ltd. and the Lions Club District 306B2.”

The ‘Cycle to Recycle’ campaign is a preamble to the 4th edition of COMPLAST - the international plastics exhibition formerly known as Sri Lanka Plast. The COMPLAST exhibition will take place from 3-5 August from 10.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m. at the BMICH Colombo and will see over 130 exhibitors in the plastics industry from India, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This exhibition is organised by Enterprising Fairs Ltd, co-organised by PRISL and supported by NSIC.
