Richardson launches Megaman’s eco-friendly architectural lighting

Richardson Projects Pvt. Ltd., a pioneer in the electrical engineering industry, specialises in providing cutting edge technologies to the electrical sector in Sri Lanka.

The company recently partnered with an internationally-acclaimed lighting solutions provider named ‘Megaman’ to introduce more innovative and advanced technologies to the Sri Lankan market.

A soft launch for Megaman lighting solutions was held in Colombo, where key representatives from the hotel sector, renowned architects, interior designers and electrical engineers and consultants were present.

Megaman is a globally respected, successful brand with eco friendly architectural lighting products and is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributer of innovative energy saving lamps (CFL), lighting luminaries and LED lamps.

With a lifespan of 15,000-20,000 hours in the energy saving lamps and 20,000 to 30,000 hours in the LED lamps, high luminance and compact sizes, these lamps are the ideal solution for professional applications and are considered as true replacements for traditional halogens.

The Megaman lamps have proved to be exceptional in lighting performance with minimal power consumption and low heat output, making it an efficient yet environmentally friendly lighting solution.

Offering over 400 different products to 90+ countries across the globe, Megaman has been built on the ability to deliver substantial benefits to a wide range of customers while improving quality of life and also conserving the environment.

Speaking at the launch, Julie Hung, Assistant Regional Marketing Manager of Megaman (HK) Electrical & Lighting Ltd. said: “Sri Lanka is a new market for Megaman and we see that there is a lot of opportunity considering the development plans laid by the government. Many hotels are now in the process of refurbishment and positioning themselves as eco friendly/green hotels. The most unique feature of Megaman energy saving lamps is its dimmer-able capability. This technology is fairly new to the lighting industry and Megaman is by far the only energy saving lamp that provides the ability of dimming. They have introduced two types of dimming solutions. One which can be directly fitted into the existing standard one-way switches (dors dimming system), and the other can be fitted to a dimmer (dimmer-able system).

The convenience of the dors dimming system is that the ‘mount-and-Dim’ feature allows the consumer to fit the lamp into any lamp holder, and begin dimming with simply a click of a button. No reconfiguration is required as the existing settings will suffice; therefore, no extra retrofit costs. The dors system also has four brightness levels which can be achieved by switching the bulb on and off repeatedly.

The next dimming solution is known as ‘dimmer-able.’ A dimming switch can be used to control these bulbs for a much smoother hassle free dimming solution; identical to an incandescent bulb. These bulbs offer the liberty of changing the luminosity between 100% and 10%, with ease.

In addition to the dimming solution, Megaman also offers a series of CFLs with sensor technology. These bulbs will turn ‘on’ when it is dark and turns ‘off’ when it gets brighter. Another innovative idea incorporated into specific models of bulbs is the ‘Cat’s Eye’ technology. This releases an after-glow that delivers a soft illumination to help find your way in case of emergencies.

Megaman LED lamp series is the first to offer to the lighting industry a viable LED halogen replacement and it leads the way in the creation of innovative LED light sources.

Hung said: “With Ingenium, these lamps are able to achieve greater light output while consuming less power. Consequently, we offer 7% more light output when compared with other energy-saving lamps with the same wattage.”

A unique feature which is offered by Megaman is its free lighting design software and Suen Kwok, Specialist Designer in Lighting, stated: “The Megaman software for lighting design is a calculation tool which helps you to design lighting in various indoor and outdoor areas. The program includes an electronic catalogue with data sheets, product search and specifications management of luminaries and lamps. Modules to manage the catalogue together with photometric databases are also included to provide a comprehensive result for lighting configuration.”
