Ruwan appointed as eChannelling Chairman

Ruwan Silva has been appointed as the Chairman of the E-Channelling Plc with effect from 8 November 2012. Previously he was Deputy Chairman.

Silva was appointed to the board of eChannelling PLC on 19 May 2010. He is the Chairman of British American Technologies (Private) Limited (BAT), a key shareholder of eChannelling PLC. Prior to setting up British American Technologies, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and Chief Financial Officer for Ericsson Algeria and Sri Lanka.



Silva has more than 18 years’ experience, cutting across varied industries, such as healthcare, electronics, telecommunications, transportation, IT and banking. He has also worked at Ansell, John Keells Holdings and HSBC. Silva holds a Masters in Business Administration (University of Colombo), an L.L.B. degree with Honours (University of London, U.K) a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, U.K (FCMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

In September Capital Trust Holdings Ltd. acquired a 10% stake (12.2 million shares) in eChannelling Plc whilst in October J.B. Cocochell Ltd., increased its stake to 12.57% when it bought 3.3 million shares on top of 12 million held previously. Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation which had around 25% stake had fully exited by October. Following the change, the Board of Directors of eChanneling Plc comprises Ruwan Silva (Chairman), A.R. Karunaratne (Executive Director), W.T.L. Weeraratne, A.A. Aziz, and D.J. Stephen (Non Executive Indepenent Director).
