Ruwan Waidyaratne has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Hayleys Plc with effect from 1 April 2013.
Currently he has overall responsibility for the transportations sector of the Hayleys Group.
He joined Hayleys Group in 1985 and was appointed a Director to a subsidiary company in 1996 and a Director Hayleys Advantis Ltd. in July 2002.
He was made the Deputy Managing Director of Hayleys Advantis Group in January 2013 and to the Hayleys Group Management Committee in February 2011. He was promoted to the post of Managing Director of Hayleys Advantis in April 2011.
Waidyaratne held the Chairmanship of Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA) in 2008/9 and currently functions as a member of the Advisory Council of the Association. He was appointed a Member of the Steering Committee on Ports, Shipping, Aviation and Logistics affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in September 2011. He holds a MBA from the Edit Cowan University of Western Australia and has undergone executive development programs with the National University of Singapore, Indian School of Business and INSEAD.
Waidyaratne entry in to the Hayleys Board is following the retirement of Johnpillai Anandarajah with effect from 31 March 2013.
Anandarajah joined Dipped Products in 1980 and has been a Director of the company since 1989. He was appointed to the Hayleys Group Management Committee in 2011 and to the Board in January 2007. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Chemistry from the University of Peradeniya, Member of the Board of Management, Industrial Technology Institute, Sri Lanka. He had the responsibility for the plantation sector, including Mabrioc Teas Ltd., and the construction material sector.
With the appointment of Waidyaratne, the Board of Hayleys Plc comprises Mohan Pandithage (Chairman and Chief Executive), Dhammika Perera (Deputy Chairman), Rizvi Zaheed, Ruwan Waidyaratne, Nimal Perera, Sarath Ganegoda, Rajitha Kariyawasan, Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma, Mangala Goonatileke, Ranil Pathirana, Lalin Samarawickrama.
