‘Sancharaka Udawa 2013,’ Sri Lanka’s most comprehensive exhibition catering to all inbound tourism operations in the country, will be held for the third consecutive year on 14 and 15 June 2013 at the BMICH, Colombo.

With the boom in tourism that the country is currently witnessing, having forecasted a mega growth of potential visitors to the island nation, Sancharaka Udawa provides the ideal platform – a one-stop-shop to all inbound tourist providers spanning the length and breadth of the country.

The exhibition spanning two days is organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), in conjunction with Sri Lanka Tourism. The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority headed by Bhashwara Gunarathna have pledged their fullest support for this event and many other activities will be held and coordinated, together with Sri Lanka Tourism, during this event. Sri Lanka Tourism has been supporting ‘Sancharaka Udawa’ from its inception.

The event caters to a wide array of ‘less exposed’ tourism service providers and provides all participants the only annual platform to showcase their products, services and most importantly gives each participant the opportunity to create vital links and network among themselves in order to bolster their products and services.

Breaking away from the tradition of hosting exclusively Sri Lankan operations, this year Sancharaka Udawa will feature a diverse sector of service providers from Sri Lanka and the region, giving the entire festival an international flavour.

The event is also set to provide an opportunity for all those individuals and business entities that are looking towards establishing their own service stream via loans from banks which will be present at the event. The banks are set to offer attractive interest rates for loan facilities and advise during the span of the event.

Imran Hassan Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Sancharaka Udawa said that the event would galvanise all middle and lower industry related service providers under one roof, giving them an opportunity to expand their services and add more value.

“The concept is a unique one in which small and medium scale operations are given the chance to showcase their services and products to a wider market. The exhibition will also provide all participants with the only opportunity to meet, interact, socialise and network among themselves to add more value to the diverse services each entity provides,” he said.

Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) President Mahen Kariyawasan said that the event was today considered a ‘must attend’ event among all medium and lower scale industry players.

“This event is one of a kind and provides the much needed exposure to a wider market for all service providers in the industry. Our country has a rich and diverse set of services that will attract any tourist and the event provides the best meeting point for all these diverse service providers. It also gives the participants and public alike the opportunity to witness and experience the gamut of services that are on offer which are not considered mainstream.”

Among hospitality services providers, the event will also include many facets of the industry including adventure sports providers, soft adventure providers who offer water sports, boat trips, cycle trails, white water rafting, mountain climbing, camping sites and dormitory-type accommodation in wildlife parks and all other areas within the adventure sports circuit.

The rising demand for quality transport providers will provide vehicle owners, wildlife jeep transport agents or owners, rail transport providers a unique opportunity to meet exhibit and promote their services to the industry. This is excluding the entire range of other service providers who will also be an integral part of the event.

‘Sancharaka Udawa 2013’ will be opened to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 14 and 15 June 2013.
