Sarada de Silva will attend the International Spice Conference (ISC) in Goa, India and the Business Sessions of the all India Spice Exporters Forum (AISEF) from 21 to 24 January.
De Silva who is the President of the NCE and the Founder Chairman of the Spice Council has contributed substantially to the development of the Sri Lanka spice industry over the years. The spice industry of Sri Lanka which has tremendous potential for the development and increase of exports of a range of spices, especially cinnamon, has received focused attention of the government to develop value added cinnamon products as the leading exporter of real cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum) to the world.
The AISEF which celebrates its silver jubilee in 2016 has organised the first-ever International Spice Conference. Decoding spices in the 21st century is the theme for the ISC in 2016. In times of change, volatility, uncertainty and ever changing food safety standards, there is a clarion call for industry leaders, international spice associations, policy makers, and end users to arrive at sustainable measures that will engage to address global food safety concerns, supply demand imbalances, ensure ethical manufacturing practices, and improve farming practices, and the livelihoods of the numerous farmers who form a major part of the spice industry. The dynamic four-day International Spice Conference will discuss the challenges faced by the industry, and the possible solutions for decoding the various nuances of spices for the 21st century and beyond. The participation of De Silva representing the Sri Lankan spice industry at this important conference will enable to attract international attention on the spice industry in Sri Lanka to facilitate its future development and growth. De Silva will also present a plaque to AISEF from the Spice Council of Sri Lanka to congratulate it on its 25th anniversary.
