The French Embassy in Colombo and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka are organising a seminar on ‘Opportunities for Sri Lanka-France Cooperation in Public Private Partnerships for Infrastructure Development’ on 11 September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the BOI Auditorium, 8th Floor, West Tower, World Trade Center, Colombo 01.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Deputy Secretary to the Treasury Dr. B.M.S. Batagoda. Representatives from the French Public Private Partnership Task Force, key Sri Lankan Government officials, invitees from the private sector and several French companies will be attending this event.
France claims long-standing and diversified experience in PPP arrangements and is a key EU market by volume of PPP Capex since 2011. Its yearly revenue derived from PPPs represents about 5% of GDP.
The French Public Private Partnership Task Force, coming under the aegis of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is the apex body for validating preliminary project evaluations and providing support to public sector entities in the preparation, negotiation and monitoring of PPPs.
This seminar would also demonstrate how PPP can contribute to reinforce the efficiency of public service delivery, that it is not merely a financial model, but offers an innovative mode of public procurement and public service management for those who seek technical-economic optimisation in line with Government objectives.
