By Channa Fernandopulle Senok Trade Combine Ltd., distributors of Subaru vehicles, together with representatives from its Japanese partners, Fuji Heavy Industries and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, recently opened its first dedicated Subaru showroom in Grandpass, Colombo.                 Situated in the same premises as the Subaru Workshop, the new showroom is aimed at providing Subaru enthusiasts with a complete range of services and high-quality after-sales care, according to Senok Director of Sales and Marketing, Reeza Rauf. “Subaru vehicles are world-famous for their superior performance, driving experience and safety. Our new showroom epitomises the commitment that we at Senok have towards the Subaru brand which we plan to take to greater heights in the coming year,” he elaborated. Subaru vehicles are known for their symmetrical All Wheel Drive (AWD) capability and compact, and light weight horizontally opposed engines which allow for a reduced level of engine vibration, creating a lower centre of gravity and reduced wear and tear.   Commenting on the significance of the launch, Fuji Heavy Industries Subaru Overseas Sales and Marketing Division Assistant Manager Keigo Ino stated his company was constantly striving to improve Subaru’s market share within the Asian region and noted that Sri Lanka’s healthy demand for quality vehicles would likely play an important role in this endeavour.   “Our organisation has targeted a sales target of 1.1 units in the Asian region and we are confident that with the unique technology offered by Subaru and the strong customer focus of our business model that this will be achieved. We see that Sri Lanka is slowly making a transition from passenger cars to SUVs which fits perfectly with the product range of Subaru. “While there is stiff competition both in Sri Lanka and Asia, we believe that our SUV models, such as the Subaru Forester, will be very popular here,” Ino enthused.
