The Government of Seychelles states that it expects to send its citizens who are engaged in the fisheries industry to Sri Lanka for further studies.
Fisheries Minister of Seychelles Michael Benstrong expressed these views when he met Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake at the Ministry of Finance on 28 February. Speaking further, Minister Benstrong said that the fishing industry in Sri Lanka is maintained at high standards and, pointed out that he needs to develop the industry to such standards. He also said that he appreciated the assistance given by Sri Lanka to Seychelles to achieve such levels. Minister Benstrong further said the economy of Seychelles, an archipelago, is based on the tourism and fisheries industry therefore it has a lot of models to be adopted from Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner of Seychelles in Sri Lanka Davis Pierre was also present at this meeting.
