His involvement with CIMSLR commenced with him joining as a Subcommittee member and progressing as a Management Committee member and thereafter a Board Member. He held positions in the Regional Board including the position of Senior Vice Chairman prior to his appointment as the Chairman of the Board.
Commenting Katipearachchi said: “It is a privilege to be appointed Chairman of the CIMSLR Board. I look forward to continuing the great work of CIM and championing the common interests of our members.”
He added: “We have got an exciting year ahead. Whilst our core focus remains to create a dynamic and thriving professional Institute, the current business module will allow us to be more effective in making changes to better the qualification and the membership creating more value to all our stakeholders.”
The new CIMSLR Board will consist of Shantha Katipearachchi, Nadi Dharmasiri, Sanjika Perera, Brian Selvanayagam, Anuradha Edirisinghe, Amal Fernando, Sujith Silva, Hasrath Munasinghe, Keith De Silva and Sumudu Thanthirigoda.

The Regional Institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and development.
