Shaw Wallace Chairman adds MD role

Shaw Wallace and Hedges Plc Chairman S.R. Vamadevan has assumed the role of Managing Director as well with effect from 16 October.

The move was unanimously agreed at the Shaw Wallace Board meeting held last week.

The company has a CEO cum Executive Director in M.N. Gunasekera and the Managing Director post is new.

Vamadevan is the Chairman of the Pioneer Homes Group of Companies. He is a Mechanical Engineer, qualified in Sri Lanka and in the United Kingdom. He counts over 40 years of corporate experience in Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Africa and Australia.

He is the founder of the Pioneer Homes Group, the pioneers in the development of residential apartments in Colombo, which has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s biggest property developers, in the residential and commercial sector in the industry.

The Board of Directors of Shaw Wallace comprises S.R. Vamadevan (Chairman and Managing Director), M.N. Gunasekara (CEO and Executive Director), L.L. Samarasinghe, R. Seevaratnam and J.M. Swaminathan.
