Singer was placed among the Ten Best Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards ceremony held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel recently. Singer also won the ‘Category Award for Customer Relations’ surpassing a number of other customer-centric organisations in the country. Singer’s 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report features the theme of purity. The report was inspired by Singer’s main CSR project of the year – ‘Thirst For Life’, which integrates the marketing of Singer and SISIL water purifiers and filters with an extensive campaign to promote clean drinking water and generate funds to purchase dialysis machines for those suffering from kidney diseases. “As one of the Ten Best Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka, we are proud to be recognised for our presence across the nation, not only as purveyors of goods and services but also as responsible citizens who nurture our stakeholders, preserve our resources, lend a hand and cultivate the talent that we have in abundance in our country,” said Singer Group CEO Asoka Pieris.     Holistic approach Singer takes a holistic approach to its customer relations where customer satisfaction is the key criterion. Through Singer, customers have the benefit of accessing a suite of 46 categories of products comprising over 50 local and foreign product and service brands. For 162 years Singer has been providing customers with products and services that are reasonable and affordable yet high in quality and superiority. This year itself, Singer secured partnerships with UK’s No. 1 and Europe’s No. 2 consumer brands Beko and Grundig, as well as tying up with Lenovo, the world’s foremost PC maker, according to recent statistics. Regnis (Lanka) PLC, the manufacturing arm of Singer has pioneered the local manufacture of eco-friendly refrigerators and air conditioners in order to provide the best products to customers. In 2013, Regnis introduced the SISIL Eco range, following the launch of the Singer Geo range, both of which incorporates the 100% organic R600 refrigerant that guarantees a significant reduction in power consumption and 100% ozone safety. Regnis invested in the technology required for manufacturing R600 gas refrigerators, decades ahead of the global requirement to convert all refrigerants to R600 gas by 2040.     Accessibility Accessibility is a major part of maintaining customer relationships at Singer. To date, Singer has expanded its reach across the country through 397 retail outlets and 10 regional service centres. Every year Singer builds on its previous year’s reach with plans underway to open the 400th Singer retail store in December, 2013. The Singer Retail Academy provides extensive training to Singer employees, ensuring that the service they provide is nothing short of excellent. 2013 also saw the introduction of the re-vamped Singer Customer Loyalty Program that is streamlined to bring greater rewards to customers who patronise Singer Plus, Singer Mega, Singer Homes and SISIL World stores. Apart from earning the top honour in Customer Relations, Singer’s rank among the Ten Best Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka for the 4th consecutive year is a testament to the company’s sustainable business philosophy. Singer’s business mix integrates the sustainable development of entrepreneurship, sports, education, health, waste management, arts and culture and local suppliers.
