Sri Lanka has been invited to participate in the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business, (Asien-Pazifik Konferenz der deutschen Wirtschaft/ APK) organised by the German industries, which is scheduled to be held between 3 to 5 November in Hong Kong this year.

The visiting German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Uwe Beckmayer told the Daily FT that they invited Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe to take part in this important conference.

APK is the flagship event in the region for business leaders, executives and government representatives to discuss and promote economic relations between Germany and Asia.

“There are many German industries that can bring so much expertise and experience to Sri Lanka in moving toward. We feel that it is very important for the Sri Lankan Government to attend this important conference,” he added.

The APK was first organised in 1986 and is being held every two years in various locations in Asia. Since then, it has evolved into the largest German networking event in the region, regularly attracting hundreds of business and political leaders from both regions to meet and greet at this occasion.
